Riding camels in Israel

Israel - January 5-19, 2014

“Israel attracts nearly twice the venture capital per capita than the U.S. You may think of Silicon Valley as the start-up capital of the world but if you look at it acre-for-acre, person-for-person, no place is innovating more than Israel. This small strip of land on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea attracts nearly twice the venture capital per capita as the U.S. and has more start-ups, patents, and inventions than all of the European Union.”

Now you can learn why and how Israel is at the leading edge of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking.

This two week study abroad will introduce you to The Technion Institute, the leading technology university in Israel and its faculty who will present their approach to innovation and entrepreneurship in seminars and discussion panels especially prepared for KU students. We will also visit start up companies that exemplify the application of leading edge technology in agri-businesses, clean energy and medical devices. During the second week we will tour sites of historic interest and receive specially guided tours that add to your technology experience by describing how technology was used to locate, refurbish and maintain these ancient artifacts. Time for sampling local cuisine, shopping and other sightseeing is planned.
